GIPHY Capture and Giffiti are both free, but they’re built around different ideas.
GIPHY Capture: record and share
GIPHY Capture is about as simple as recording gets: click to start, click to stop. Recordings run up to 30 seconds. You can choose the loop type and frame rate, add animated captions, and see the file size before saving. Then save it, or share it to GIPHY, email or social networks.
Giffiti: make it, keep it
Giffiti records your screen or camera as well, and also starts from videos, pictures and existing GIFs. Everything happens in an editor with a timeline, captions with 41 fonts, effects, transitions and more export formats. There’s no account, and your work stays on your Mac.
The short version
For a quick screen GIF headed for GIPHY, GIPHY Capture is hard to beat for speed. For anything you want to edit, caption or keep private, choose Giffiti.
